Rewa Clinches Historic IDC Title, Ending a 15-Year Wait

Rewa Clinches 2025 Inter District Championship, Ending 15-Year Drought

Stratum Construction Rewa has achieved a remarkable milestone by winning the 2025 FMF Inter District Championship, securing their first title for all players and officials involved. The championship match took place at the 4R Stadium Govind Park in Ba, where Rewa clinched a hard-fought 1-0 victory against RC Manubhai Ba.

This victory is particularly significant as it marks Rewa’s first IDC championship win since 2010, when they last secured the title as the Delta Tigers. That triumphant season featured a formidable lineup with stars such as Marika Rodu and Epeli Saukuru, making this recent success a welcome revival for the team.

A heartfelt moment in the final was shared by veteran player Tevita Waranivalu, who, despite facing an injury in the final minutes, expressed his immense pride in their achievement. “For me, this is my first IDC title; the last IDC Rewa won was in 2010 when I was in form four. After that, I started playing for Rewa and lifted several titles, but this is my first IDC,” he reflected.

This latest victory also emphasizes the intense rivalry between Rewa and RC Manubhai Ba, marking their sixth encounter within the tournament’s 87-year history. Additionally, in other competition outcomes, Rakiraki secured the Senior title, while Tavua celebrated victories in the Premier IDC categories.

Rewa’s championship win not only reignites a club that has encountered setbacks in recent times but also invigorates its dedicated fanbase. This victory showcases the potential for upcoming successes and highlights the growth of football’s popularity in Fiji. The celebration of Rewa’s triumph embodies the community’s spirit, generating excitement and enthusiasm for the sport locally.
