Revolutionizing National French Fry Day: What’s Changing in 2022?

French fries are one of America’s most beloved side dishes.

The origins of French fries are linked to Belgium and France for different reasons. Some believe American soldiers first encountered French fries in Belgium during World War I. Others suggest that the fried potato strips became popular after Thomas Jefferson had them served at a White House dinner in a “French manner.”

Since then, French fries have become one of the most popular American dishes. In 2022, fast food chains Checkers and Rally initiated a petition to change National French Fry Day from July 13 to the second Friday in July, playfully calling it “Fry Day.”

Today is National French Fry Day, and many chains are offering special “Fry Day” deals. Chains like McDonald’s, Wendy’s, and Burger King are among those offering free fries for the rest of 2024.

Enjoy the deals, and bon appétit!
