The Rev. Canon Katie Pearson will be returning to the All Saints by-the-Sea community for the first two Sundays in September. She arrives from Denver, Colorado, and will lead the Holy Communion services at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on both Sundays. Our skilled organist, Mr. Henry Lowe, will provide organ music for all services. Following each 10:00 a.m. service, there will be a time for fellowship and coffee on the chapel grounds. Everyone is welcome, regardless of their faith.
As Canon Pastor of St. John’s Cathedral in Denver, Rev. Pearson oversees the cathedral in collaboration with the Dean, fulfilling roles as a pastor, priest, and teacher. Her various ministerial duties include Christian formation, lay leadership, and pastoral care. She earned her Master of Divinity from the Iliff School of Theology and holds a diploma in Anglican Studies from Sewanee’s School of Theology. Before her ordination, Katie served as a high school English teacher and was actively involved as a volunteer and lay leader. With a family history that spans various regions, including overseas, the Southeast, Upper Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, and now the Rocky Mountains, she brings extensive experience to her ministry. She is married to her husband, Don, and together they have three adult children.
Rev. Pearson will also lead an informal discussion about the week’s scripture passages on the chapel’s outside porch on Tuesday, September 3, from 9 to 10 a.m. Members of All Saints as well as those from other local churches are encouraged to join.
All Saints by-the-Sea is located on Southport Island on All Saints Road, approximately 2 miles on the left when heading south on Route 238. An Episcopal Church sign indicates the location. Parking is available along Route 238, with a limited number of handicapped spaces off All Saints Road. A golf cart service will transport individuals from the handicapped lot to the church steps. Additionally, the chapel dock is now accessible for those who wish to arrive by boat. While the worship season will conclude on September 8, the historic wood chapel will remain open for quiet prayer and meditation until mid-October.
