Renowned anchor and cherished sports and news figure Rene Knott has departed from KSDK 5 On Your Side, marking the end of a significant chapter in his career. Knott’s exit from the St. Louis NBC affiliate took place on October 15, after serving on its reporting team for over two decades.
The news was first reported by St. Louis Magazine, which revealed that his colleagues learned of the change during a staff meeting on Wednesday morning. However, details surrounding the circumstances of his departure remain unclear as neither the station nor Knott has commented on the matter.
In response to the outpouring of support and concern from fans on social media, Knott took to Instagram to express his gratitude. He shared, “I loved telling St. Louis stories,” and acknowledged his feelings of being blessed for the opportunity to work in the region. He also expressed hope for future chances to continue his storytelling.
Knott’s departure comes just a year after he celebrated his 20th anniversary with KSDK, where he began his career as a sports reporter and eventually rose to co-anchor the station’s popular morning show. Outside of his broadcasting duties, Knott is actively involved in the community, frequently hosting events that support various local organizations. Recently, he emceed the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis’ 107th Annual Dinner as well as the St. Louis American Foundation’s 23rd Annual Salute to Excellence in Business Awards Luncheon.
