Remembering Tito Jackson: A Legacy Beyond the Spotlight

Tito Jackson, a member of the iconic pop group the Jackson 5, has passed away at the age of 70. Tito, born Toriano Adaryll Jackson on October 15, 1953, was the third of nine Jackson siblings, which include the late Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson, both globally renowned artists.

His sons, TJ, Taj, and Taryll, shared the sad news on Instagram, expressing their heartbreak over the loss of their father, whom they described as an incredible man who cared deeply for others.

The Jackson 5, comprised of Tito, Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael, achieved immense success in the 1970s with hit songs like “ABC,” “I Want You Back,” and “I’ll Be There.” They were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 after rising to superstardom under the management of their father, Joe Jackson. Originally from Gary, Indiana, the family moved to California as their music careers flourished.

While Tito was primarily known as a background singer and guitarist within the group, he refrained from pursuing a solo career for years to focus on raising his sons. He eventually released his debut solo album, “Tito Time,” in 2016 and followed up with the single “One Way Street” in 2017. He expressed interest in working on a second album, indicating that family was paramount in his life.

In the days leading up to his death, Tito shared memories of his late brother Michael. He visited a memorial for him in Munich, expressing gratitude for the honor bestowed upon Michael’s legacy.

Tito Jackson is survived by his brothers Jermaine, Randy, Marlon, and Jackie, as well as his sisters Janet, Rebbie, and La Toya, in addition to their mother, Katherine. His father passed away in 2018.
