Remembering Stanley Miglets: A Life of Family, Legacy, and Adventure

CANFIELD — Stanley J. Miglets Jr., 73, passed away on Tuesday evening, November 26, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Born on April 15, 1951, in Youngstown, he was the son of the late Stanley J. Miglets Sr. and Helen Kohowski Miglets. A lifelong resident of the area, Stanley was a proud graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, where he was part of the first graduating class in 1969.

Stanley dedicated 46 years to General Motors Lordstown, where he contributed to the automotive industry until his retirement in 2016. He was known for his diverse interests and talents, particularly in automotive work, camping, and enjoying his favorite retreat at Indian Creek in Geneva-on-the-Lake. A passionate traveler, he loved exploring the great outdoors and found tranquility in watching thunderstorms. Most importantly, Stanley treasured time spent with his family, especially at his grandchildren’s sporting events, where he showcased his unwavering support and pride.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Debra S. Ward Miglets, whom he married on May 5, 1973, at St. Stanislaus Church. Additionally, he leaves behind his daughter, Mandi (Greg) Young of Austintown; his son, Eric (Debbie) Miglets of Austintown; three grandchildren, Dakota, Gabrielle, and Dominic Miglets; and a great-grandson, Atlas Miglets. He is also survived by three sisters, Paulette Sculli, Karen (Chuck) Boros, and Helaine (Ken) Yash, all from Austintown, along with nieces and nephews whom he deeply cared for, including Shannon Weimer, Larry Ward Jr., and others, as well as his aunt, Camille Allen, and numerous extended family members.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Kinnick Funeral Home, located at 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, where a funeral service will follow at 7 p.m.

In this somber time, the legacy of Stanley Miglets serves as a reminder of the importance of family connections and cherishing life’s simple pleasures. His dedication to his family and community will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
