Remembering Rich Homie Quan: A Celebration of Life and Legacy

A Celebration of Life ceremony for Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan will take place at 11 a.m. on September 17 at World Changers Church International, located at 2500 Burdett Road.

Quan, whose real name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar, passed away on September 5 at the age of 34. He gained recognition for several popular songs, including “Type of Way,” “Lifestyle,” and “Flex.”

Born in Atlanta on October 4, 1990, Quan rose to prominence in the early 2010s, particularly with his hit single “Type of Way” in 2013. His 2015 track “Flex” reached No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. As part of the music collective Rich Gang, he was instrumental in producing numerous hits, showcasing his distinctive melodic flow and catchy hooks.

Quan began his music career in 2011, primarily focusing on trap music, and collaborated with various renowned artists, including Young Thug, 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane, Trinidad James, and YG.

An Atlanta Police Department report indicates that officers responded to a medical emergency call on September 5 at a residence on Hamden Forest Drive SW around 11:20 a.m., where they found Quan unresponsive. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Although an autopsy has been conducted, the official cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
