Georgia rapper OG Maco, best known for his hit single “U Guessed It,” has passed away at the age of 32. The news of his death was confirmed by his family via a heartfelt post on social media, sharing the sorrowful news and celebrating his impactful life.

Born Benedict Chiajulam Ihesiba Jr., OG Maco’s family expressed, “With heavy hearts, we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our beloved Ben, known to the world as OG Maco. His life was a testament to resilience, creativity, and boundless love.” They highlighted how his music and spirit touched countless lives, leaving a meaningful legacy.

The rapper had been hospitalized earlier this month, and in a statement from December 16, the family reported he was in “critical but stable condition” due to unspecified health issues.

The family’s tribute continued to honor his extraordinary life, stating, “While we grieve this immense loss, we also celebrate the extraordinary life he lived – one that will continue to inspire and uplift others.” His influence as an artist and individual will be deeply missed and remembered.

OG Maco first gained mainstream recognition with “U Guessed It,” which peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 thanks to a remix featuring 2 Chainz. He was signed later that year by Quality Control, the Atlanta-based label known for nurturing talents like Quavo, Lil Baby, and others. Maco was also part of XXL’s 2015 Freshman Class, which recognized emerging talent in hip-hop, alongside artists such as Vince Staples and Fetty Wap. Additionally, he founded the hip-hop collective OGG, contributing to the genre’s creativity and collaboration.

This tragic news serves as a reminder of the impact artists can have and the enduring legacy they leave behind through their music and creativity. Although OG Maco’s life was cut short, his contributions to hip-hop and the community will continue to inspire future generations.
