Drake Hogestyn, celebrated for his portrayal of John Black on the soap opera “Days of Our Lives,” has passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, his family announced on Saturday. He was 70 years old.
In a heartfelt statement shared on the official “Days of Our Lives” Instagram account, the Hogestyn family expressed their sorrow, noting, “It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Drake Hogestyn. He was confronted with the challenge of his life when diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, but he faced it with remarkable strength and determination. After an incredible fight, he passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.”

The family described Hogestyn as the “most amazing husband, father, papa, and actor,” emphasizing his passion for performing for the “Days of Our Lives” fans and his cherished collaboration with the cast, crew, and production team.
“We love him and we will miss him all the Days of Our Lives,” the statement conveyed.
Hogestyn first appeared on “Days of Our Lives” in 1986 and was featured in over 4,200 episodes, according to IMDb. His contributions to the beloved soap opera earned him Soap Opera Digest Awards in 1994 and 1995 as the hottest male star and another in 2005 for favorite couple.
