NBC has officially ordered a new comedy series titled “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins,” featuring stars Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe. The series, which was initially announced as a pilot in March, follows a disgraced former football player, played by Morgan, on his journey to restore his reputation.
Joining Morgan and Radcliffe in the cast are Erika Alexander, Bobby Moynihan, Precious Way, and Jalyn Hall. This project represents a reunion for the creative minds behind “30 Rock,” with Morgan returning under the direction of executive producers Robert Carlock and Sam Means, while Tina Fey adds her expertise to the production team. Rhys Thomas, an “SNL” veteran, will direct the pilot and serve as an executive producer alongside others from Fey’s production company and Universal Television.
Morgan, well-known for his role as Tracy Jordan on “30 Rock,” received widespread acclaim, including an Emmy nomination in 2009. Radcliffe has previously collaborated with Fey, Carlock, and Means in the Netflix project “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs the Reverend,” further strengthening the ties among the show’s creators.
The announcement of “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins” coincides with NBC’s fall schedule for 2025 and comes right before the NBCUniversal upfront presentation in New York. In addition to this new series, NBC is still weighing two other comedy pilots, while it has recently renewed some shows like “St. Denis Medical” and “Happy’s Place,” although others, such as “Night Court” and “Lopez vs. Lopez,” have faced cancellation.
This series holds promise not only for fans of the star-studded cast but also for those who appreciate the comedic style of the original “30 Rock” team.
