The Reddy Foundation, the charitable division of the Reddy Group, has once again demonstrated its commitment to cancer awareness and support by donating $10,000 to the Fiji Cancer Society during the Pinktober Walk at the My Suva Picnic Park on Wednesday. Established in 2015, the foundation has maintained a strong partnership with the Fiji Cancer Society, channeling contributions through Tanoa Hotels, a key branch of the Reddy Group.
Narend Kumar, the area general manager for Tanoa Hotel Group in Fiji, emphasized the importance of grassroots initiatives, stating, “At Tanoa, we believe that small actions can create big change.” He expressed hope that their support for the Fiji Cancer Society would help ease the challenges faced by those battling cancer and enhance the network of care available within local communities.
Kamini Reddy, the company director, highlighted the foundation’s efforts as a continuation of her late father, Yanktesh Permal Reddy’s vision for community empowerment. She explained that this year’s theme represents the group’s ongoing dedication to transforming awareness into tangible actions, reinforcing a commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.
The Pinktober Walk saw participation from hotel staff, community members, and supporters, all united in raising awareness and showing solidarity with cancer survivors. This event aligns with broader local efforts emphasizing community involvement, as various organizations express their dedication to assisting the Fiji Cancer Society and battling cancer through collective initiatives.
Similar to the donation made by the Reddy Foundation, other companies like Telecom Fiji and Decked Out Fiji Group have also contributed significantly to the Fiji Cancer Society, reinforcing the critical role of corporate responsibility in supporting local health initiatives. Telecom Fiji recently donated $15,000 during a Pinktober morning tea event, while Decked Out Fiji highlighted its third consecutive year of support with a contribution of $11,362.32.
These collaborative efforts not only raise vital funds but also increase awareness about cancer, showcasing the strength of the community as they come together to support those affected by this pervasive illness. Through initiatives like Pinktober, there is a hopeful vision emerging—one that fosters solidarity, compassion, and collective action in the fight against cancer, ultimately inspiring positive change in the community.
