Reddit is making a significant move into the sports marketing industry.
On Monday, the platform revealed new partnerships with prominent sports leagues, including the National Football League (NFL), National Basketball Association (NBA), Major League Baseball (MLB), PGA Tour, and NASCAR.
As part of these partnerships, Reddit users will have access to a variety of content, including video highlights from games and tournaments, player Ask Me Anything (AMA) sessions, behind-the-scenes footage, and other exclusive materials shared by the leagues during their seasons and major events.
The platform boasts over 1,000 active communities focused on sports, and engagement in these forums has surged dramatically. Screenviews in sports-related discussions on Reddit have risen by 26% over the past year.
The sports marketing sector is anticipated to grow over 20%, reaching a valuation of over $55 billion by 2030, with fans increasingly turning to platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter) for sports content.
In its efforts to boost revenue ahead of a potential public offering, Reddit previously secured a $60 million annual AI licensing deal with Google in February. Following the announcement of these new sports partnerships, Reddit shares experienced a nearly 7% increase on Monday.
