Reddit is making a significant move into the sports marketing industry with the announcement of new partnerships with several prominent sports leagues, including the NFL, NBA, MLB, PGA Tour, and NASCAR.
Starting this week, Reddit users will have access to a variety of exclusive content such as video highlights from games and tournaments, interactive AMAs with players, behind-the-scenes videos, and other unique material shared by the leagues during their seasons and major events.
The platform has highlighted that it hosts over 1,000 active communities focused on sports, with a notable surge in interest in these forums. In the past year, screenviews on sports-related content have risen by 26%.
The sports marketing sector is projected to grow by more than 20%, reaching a value of over $55 billion by 2030, as fans increasingly turn to platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter) for sports content.
In its efforts to boost revenue ahead of a public offering, Reddit recently entered into a $60 million-per-year AI licensing deal with Google. Following the announcement of its new sports partnerships, Reddit’s shares increased by nearly 7%.
