Reddit Scores Big with Major Sports Leagues: What’s in Store for Fans?

Reddit is making a significant move into the sports marketing industry by announcing new partnerships with major sports leagues, including the NFL, NBA, MLB, PGA Tour, and NASCAR.

Starting Monday, Reddit users will gain access to game highlights, player Q&A sessions, behind-the-scenes footage, and other exclusive content from these leagues throughout their seasons and major events.

The platform boasts over 1,000 active sports-related communities, and interest in these forums has surged. Screenviews on sports forums have seen a notable increase of 26% over the past year.

The sports marketing sector is projected to grow by more than 20%, reaching an estimated value of over $55 billion by 2030. Fans are increasingly turning to platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and X (formerly known as Twitter) for sports content.

In its efforts to enhance revenue as it prepares for a potential IPO, Reddit previously established a $60 million annual AI licensing agreement with Google in February. Following the announcement of the new sports partnerships, Reddit’s shares rose nearly 7% on Monday.
