Reddit is making a significant move into the sports marketing arena with new partnerships that were announced on Monday. The social media platform has teamed up with major sports leagues, including the National Football League (NFL), National Basketball Association (NBA), Major League Baseball (MLB), PGA Tour, and NASCAR.
As part of these partnerships, Reddit users will have access to video highlights from games and tournaments, interactive Q&A sessions with players (known as AMAs), behind-the-scenes footage, and exclusive content from the leagues during their seasons and major events.
Reddit boasts over 1,000 active sports communities, which have seen a surge in user interest. Screenviews within sports-related forums rose by 26% in the past year.
The sports marketing sector is projected to grow by more than 20%, reaching an estimated value exceeding $55 billion by 2030, as fans increasingly look to platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter) for sports content.
In its efforts to enhance revenue streams ahead of a potential public offering, Reddit previously secured a $60 million yearly AI licensing agreement with Google in February. Following the announcement of its new sports partnerships, Reddit experienced a nearly 7% increase in its share price.
