Reddit is making a significant move into the sports marketing arena. The social media platform announced on Monday a series of new collaborations with several prominent sports leagues, including the National Football League (NFL), National Basketball Association (NBA), Major League Baseball (MLB), PGA Tour, and NASCAR.
As part of these partnerships, Reddit users will gain access to video highlights from games and tournaments, player AMAs (Ask Me Anything sessions), behind-the-scenes content, and other exclusive materials shared by the leagues during their seasons and major events.
Reddit noted that it hosts over 1,000 active communities focused on sports, with engagement in these forums rising sharply. The platform reported a 26% increase in screenviews of sports-related forums over the past year.
The sports marketing sector is projected to grow by more than 20%, reaching over $55 billion by 2030, as fans increasingly seek sports-related content on platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and X (formerly known as Twitter).
To bolster its revenue as it prepares for a public offering, Reddit previously signed a $60 million annual AI licensing agreement with Google in February. Following the recent announcement of its sports partnerships, Reddit’s stock experienced a nearly 7% increase on Monday.
