Reddit is making a significant move into the sports marketing arena with the announcement of new partnerships with prominent sports leagues, including the NFL, NBA, MLB, PGA Tour, and NASCAR.
Users of the platform will gain access to a variety of content, such as video highlights from games and tournaments, player Q&A sessions (known as AMAs), behind-the-scenes footage, and other exclusive material shared by the leagues during their respective seasons and major events.
The company highlighted that it hosts over 1,000 active communities dedicated to sports, with heightened interest in these forums. Screenviews on sports-related threads have surged by 26% in the past year, indicating a growing engagement among users.
As the sports marketing sector is projected to grow by over 20%, reaching a value exceeding $55 billion by 2030, fans are increasingly utilizing platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter) for sports content.
In its efforts to diversify revenue streams ahead of a potential public offering, Reddit had earlier secured a $60 million-per-year AI licensing agreement with Google in February. Following these new partnerships in sports, Reddit’s shares rose nearly 7% on Monday.
