Reddit is making a significant move into the sports marketing industry by announcing new partnerships with several major sports leagues, including the NFL, NBA, MLB, PGA Tour, and NASCAR.
Effective immediately, these partnerships will provide Reddit users with access to a variety of exclusive content, such as video highlights from games, player Q&A sessions, behind-the-scenes footage, and other tailored content shared by the leagues throughout their seasons and key events.
According to Reddit, there are currently over 1,000 active communities focused on sports, and engagement within these forums has surged. The platform reported a 26% increase in screenviews on sports-related forums over the past year.
The sports marketing sector is projected to grow more than 20%, reaching a valuation of over $55 billion by 2030. Fans are increasingly turning to platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and X (formerly known as Twitter) for sports content.
Reddit has been actively exploring revenue opportunities in anticipation of going public. Earlier this year, the company signed a $60 million annual AI licensing agreement with Google. After announcing these new sports partnerships, Reddit’s shares rose nearly 7% on Monday.
