Reddit is making a significant move into the sports marketing arena following the announcement of new partnerships with prominent sports leagues, including the NFL, NBA, MLB, PGA Tour, and NASCAR.
Starting Monday, Reddit users will have access to an array of content such as game highlights, player AMAs (Ask Me Anything sessions), behind-the-scenes videos, and other exclusive material shared by sports leagues during their seasons and major events.
The platform revealed that it hosts over 1,000 active communities focused on sports, with a notable surge in engagement; screenviews for sports-related discussions have jumped 26% in the past year.
The sports marketing industry is projected to grow by over 20%, reaching a value exceeding $55 billion by 2030. Fans are increasingly turning to platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter) for sports content.
Reddit has been exploring various strategies to enhance its revenue, particularly as it prepares for a public offering. Earlier in the year, the company entered into a $60 million annual AI licensing agreement with Google. Following the announcement of these new sports partnerships, Reddit’s shares experienced a rise of nearly 7%.
