Reddick’s Future in Jeopardy: Jets Open Door for Trade Talks

Haason Reddick has taken steps towards potentially resolving his contract situation with the New York Jets by hiring veteran NFL agent Drew Rosenhaus, following the termination of his previous representation. Rosenhaus announced his main objective is to settle Reddick’s contract issues and keep the pass rusher with the Jets. However, the Jets are preparing for a different outcome, granting Rosenhaus the authority to explore trade options for Reddick, as reported by CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones.

Rosenhaus is actively reaching out to other NFL teams for possible trade interest, with three weeks remaining until the league’s in-season trade deadline on November 5.

This marks a shift in the Jets’ stance, as general manager Joe Douglas had earlier stated that the team would not fulfill Reddick’s trade request from the preseason. The Jets have also resisted meeting Reddick’s contract demands, indicating they have been “clear, direct and consistent” about their position on a new deal for the former Philadelphia Eagles player since acquiring him in April. Reddick has not yet participated in any games this season as he seeks a substantial salary increase.

Reddick’s father, Raymond Matthew, previously mentioned that his son has “outperformed his contract” and is looking for “market value.” Reddick recorded 27 sacks during two seasons with playoff appearances for the Eagles and is currently in the final year of a three-year, $45 million contract signed during the 2022 free agency. He has reportedly lost nearly $800,000 each week due to his ongoing holdout.

If the former first-round draft pick is to remain on his current contract for the upcoming season, he needs to be activated by Week 13 in order to become a free agent after this season.
