Red Dead Redemption 2 Switch 2 Port Rumors Heat Up for 2025 Release

Rumors suggest a Nintendo Switch 2 port of the acclaimed game Red Dead Redemption 2 may be released by late 2025. Reports from GameReactor indicate that sources close to Rockstar have confirmed this development, along with a next-gen upgrade for the PS5 and Xbox Series X and S.

While specific details remain vague, it is believed that both the port and the upgrade could be available as early as later this year. This follows similar statements from Nintenduo, which mentions that the Switch 2 version should launch within Take-Two’s current financial year, concluding on March 31, 2026. It remains unknown whether the game will be released digitally, physically, or both.

Upon its original release in 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2 received widespread acclaim, earning a perfect 10/10 from IGN, who hailed it as a “masterpiece” and a “meticulously polished open-world ode to the outlaw era.” This potential port could extend the game’s legacy to a new audience on Nintendo’s platform.

Take-Two Interactive’s CEO Strauss Zelnick has expressed optimism about supporting the Switch 2, noting the publisher is launching four titles for the device—more than ever for a new Nintendo platform. He mentioned that Nintendo’s improved approach towards third-party publishers provides a strong case for expanded opportunities on the new system. This could open the possibility for more titles from Take-Two’s catalog to come to the Switch in the future, including fan favorites like Grand Theft Auto V or even Red Dead Redemption 2.

The growing enthusiasm for the new platform also signals a broader trend of collaboration between third-party developers and console manufacturers, a promising shift that could lead to more diverse game offerings for players across different systems.
