The four-time world champion’s frustrations have grown due to Red Bull’s declining form in the last year, prompting discussions about possible exit clauses in Verstappen’s contract.
While the chances of Verstappen leaving for the 2026 season remain low, he has made it clear that a competitive car is essential for his commitment to stay with Red Bull. Mekies stated, “In terms of priority, I’m sure Max wants a fast car and if we get him a fast car, I’m sure it’s cancelling out all the other considerations.” He acknowledged that understanding and improving the team quickly is vital to support the necessary enhancements for a competitive vehicle.
