ARANSAS PASS, Texas — Voters in Aransas Pass and throughout San Patricio County began early voting in the Coastal Bend region.

Quincy Cooper, a lifelong resident of Aransas Pass, expressed surprise at the turnout, saying, “I’ve never seen a line this long. I was actually shocked when I walked in to see how long the line was.”

The polling at the Aransas Pass Civic Center opened at 10 a.m., and by 10:15 a.m., voters were already lined up outside the door.

Voters have different reasons for their early participation. Jones mentioned his motivation is centered around “freedom for everyone,” emphasizing inclusivity for all groups.

Sherry and Bill Morcher indicated that issues like “immigration and the economy” are what prompted their decision to vote early, with Bill stating the importance of ensuring their votes were submitted ahead of the Nov. 5 elections. He noted, “We wanted to make sure it counted. We didn’t want any questions on Election Day about whether we voted or not.”

Steve Brewster echoed similar sentiments, identifying immigration and the economy as key issues. He reinforced the importance of voting by stating, “If you don’t vote, you don’t have a voice. Everybody that votes then has a voice.”

Early voting will remain open until Friday, Nov. 1, at the following locations:

– San Patricio County Elections Office – Office Room 2 – 410 W Market, Sinton, TX 78387
– Aransas Pass Civic Center – Lightening Welk Room – 700 W Wheeler, Aransas Pass, TX 78336
– Mathis City Hall Annex – 401 E San Patricio, Mathis, TX 78368
– Portland Community Center – Multi-Purpose Room – 2000 Billy G Webb, Portland, TX 78374
