Norfolk State junior guard Da’Brya Clark has been once again recognized for her outstanding performance, earning Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors for the second time this season. Clark, hailing from Baltimore, delivered a remarkable display during a recent game against South Carolina State, where she set a new school record by sinking nine 3-pointers. In the decisive 85-41 victory, she not only tallied 30 points and 11 rebounds but also contributed five assists, four steals, and two blocks, marking her second double-double of her college career.

In another commendable performance, Maryland Eastern Shore’s Kaliya Perry, a forward and Hampton High alumna, was named the Rookie of the Week. Perry played a vital role in her team’s 68-61 win over Coppin State, finishing with 11 points, six rebounds, two blocks, and an assist.

Shifting to men’s basketball, Radford University celebrated the achievements of its players as guard Da’Brya Clark was recognized alongside Presbyterian forward Jonah Pierce as Co-Players of the Week in the Big South Conference. Clark made significant contributions in leading the Highlanders to two victories over Gardner-Webb and Longwood, amassing a total of 52 points, nine rebounds, and five assists. His impressive shooting included 18 of 34 from the field with an accuracy of 5 of 10 from three-point range and an excellent 11 of 13 from the free-throw line. Additionally, Radford’s Frederik Erichsen was honored as Freshman of the Week for his solid performances off the bench, including 11 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks.

On the collegiate baseball front, Virginia’s baseball team has been recognized in Baseball America’s preseason poll, securing the 14th spot. UVA is among seven teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference that have made it to the top 25. The top three teams in the poll include UCLA, LSU, and Mississippi State, while the Cavaliers will kick off their season against Wagner on February 13.

In women’s lacrosse, Virginia sits at 10th and James Madison at 19th in the coaches’ preseason poll, with North Carolina taking the top ranking.

Moreover, the Virginia Cavaliers will be honoring their women’s sports programs during the National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration this Sunday. The event, themed “Legacy & Limitless Potential,” coincides with the women’s basketball game against NC State, scheduled to tip off at noon. Fans can participate in the celebration by getting an NGWSD poster signed by the entire women’s basketball team post-game. Prior to the game, a youth sports festival will be hosted, allowing young attendees to engage in various sports activities and interact with UVA athletes.

In college wrestling, Apprentice School’s Logan Eastman showcased his talent by winning the 174-pound division at the Builder Invitational, contributing to the team’s second-place finish. Eastman secured the championship by pinning Clemson’s Gabe Silverman. His teammate Lucas Summer placed as the runner-up in the 184-pound division, culminating an impressive day of competition for the Apprentice wrestling team.
