Reba McEntire’s journey to becoming the “Queen of Country” began in her home state of Oklahoma, where she first showcased her talent by singing the national anthem at rodeo events. It was during one of those performances that she caught the attention of country artist Red Steagall, who assisted her in securing a record deal with PolyGram Records.
Fast forward five decades, and Reba is set to make headlines once again as she headlines Nashville’s inaugural Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association event, alongside notable acts like Jelly Roll and Tim McGraw. This exciting Music City Rodeo will take place from May 29-31 at the Bridgestone Arena.
In anticipation of the event, Reba took to social media to share a vibrant throwback photo where she donned a stylish hot pink rodeo outfit, complete with matching hat and boots. She humorously captioned the image, “You know what they say…if you stay rodeo ready, you don’t have to get rodeo ready!”
As a founding member of the Music City Rodeo, Reba is passionately involved in the event, which promises to feature traditional rodeo activities such as barrel racing, bull riding, and mutton bustin’. Each evening will culminate with a concert by one of its founding stars.

Growing up in a rodeo family with her father, a three-time world champion steer roper, instilled in her a strong work ethic that she later carried into the music industry.
