Reba McEntire has shared heartfelt memories of her late stepson, Brandon Blackstock, who passed away on August 7 at the age of 48 after a prolonged battle with melanoma. In an interview with People, published on October 21, the country music legend recalled her close bond with Brandon, referring to it as “precious.”
McEntire, who was married to Brandon’s father, Narvel Blackstock, from 1989 to 2015, reflected on how she helped raise Brandon from the age of four, experiencing significant moments in his life as he grew up alongside his siblings, Shawna Rene Blackstock and Chassidy Celeste Blackstock. She described Brandon fondly, stating, “I absolutely loved that child.”
In her reminiscences, McEntire highlighted Brandon’s playful nature, noting how he enjoyed pranking people during their time together in Nashville at Starstruck Entertainment, the talent management company owned by Narvel. She recalled moments where he would hide and scare others, bringing a sense of joy and laughter to their environment.
Brandon was in a relationship with Brittney Marie Jones at the time of his passing, and together they worked on building their legacy through ventures such as the Headwaters Livestock Auction and the Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana. McEntire previously expressed her condolences on social media after his death, noting that Brandon’s struggle was over and he found peace in God’s presence.
McEntire’s tribute accentuates the deep connections formed within families, even beyond traditional boundaries, highlighting that Brandon will be “sorely missed” and will always be remembered by those who loved him.
