Reality TV star Amy Slaton, known for her appearance on TLC’s “1000-Lb. Sisters,” was arrested at the Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo, Tennessee, on Monday. She faces charges of illegal drug possession and child endangerment.
Authorities from the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports that a guest, later identified as the 36-year-old Slaton, had been bitten by a camel. Upon their arrival, officers noticed suspicious odors emanating from her vehicle.
Slaton, a mother of two—Gage, 3, and Glenn, 2—whom she shares with ex-husband Michael Halterman, was detained and charged with illegal possession of Schedule I and Schedule VI drugs, along with two counts of child endangerment. Also arrested was Brian Scott Lovvorn, who was in the vehicle with her. Both individuals were taken to the Crockett County Jail.
The sheriff’s department issued a statement confirming the charges are accusations of criminal conduct and that Slaton is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
In a subsequent update on September 3, it was reported that General Sessions Judge Paul Conley had set bonds for Slaton and Lovvorn at $10,000 each. Attempts to reach a representative for Slaton for further comment were unsuccessful.
Amy Slaton rose to fame alongside her sister Tammy Slaton, 38, through YouTube, where they shared insights into their lives before starring in their own TLC reality series exploring their struggles with weight loss. The show premiered in January 2020 and detailed Amy’s journey, including her decision to undergo gastric bypass surgery in hopes of achieving a healthy pregnancy.
Amy Slaton welcomed her first child, Gage, in November 2020, and announced the birth of their second son, Glenn, in July 2022. The series also follows Tammy’s own journey toward weight loss and includes significant life events, such as Amy’s divorce, which took place in September 2023, and the death of Tammy’s husband, Caleb Willingham, in June 2023.
