Amy Slaton Halterman, a star of TLC’s “1000-Lb. Sisters,” was taken into custody in Tennessee on Labor Day.

On September 2, law enforcement responded to a situation at the Tennessee Safari Park zoo in Alamo, where it was reported that a guest had been bitten by a camel. According to the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department, deputies detected unusual odors coming from the vehicle occupied by the guest upon their arrival.

Slaton Halterman was charged with illegal possession of Schedule I drugs, illegal possession of Schedule VI drugs, and two counts of child endangerment. The DEA classifies Schedule I drugs as substances with no accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse, which includes drugs such as heroin, LSD, and marijuana, while Schedule VI pertains to drugs with a lower potential for abuse but can include substances like Xanax and Valium.

Another individual, identified as Brian Scott Lovvorn, was also in the vehicle and received the same charges.

The news outlet TODAY.com has reached out to Slaton Halterman for her statement regarding the incident.

The 36-year-old reality television personality is widely recognized for her role in “1000-Lb. Sisters,” which chronicles her and her sister Tammy Slaton’s efforts to lose weight. The series began airing in 2020 and concluded its fifth season in February.

In November 2020, she and her former husband, Michael Halterman, announced the birth of their first child, Gage. Slaton Halterman discovered her second pregnancy just four months after her gastric bypass surgery, initially believing that there had been an error on the doctor’s part when informed of the news. Her second child, Glenn Allen Halterman, was born in July 2022. Slaton Halterman and Halterman have since divorced.
