Real Madrid’s Dominance Returns: Celebrating a 5-1 Thrashing of RB Salzburg

In an emphatic display, Real Madrid secured a 5-1 victory over RB Salzburg in their recent Champions League match, highlighted by standout performances from Brazilian forwards Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr, who both netted two goals each, alongside a goal from superstar Kylian Mbappé. Despite Salzburg’s early dominance, with a robust high press causing the Spanish side some issues, Madrid gradually took control of the match thanks to key contributions from Jude Bellingham and veteran Luka Modric.

The scoring opened in the 23rd minute when Vinicius, on a quick counter-attack, sent a long pass intended for Bellingham. Despite Bellingham’s miscontrol, Rodrygo quickly seized the chance, slotting in a precise shot just inside the right post. Rodrygo continued to shine, increasing the lead in the 34th minute with a curling shot from inside the box after combining beautifully with Bellingham.

Kylian Mbappé then capitalized on a glaring mistake from Salzburg’s goalkeeper Janis Blaswich, who was caught dribbling and handed the French forward an easy goal in the 48th minute. Vinicius Jr took center stage afterward, showcasing his speed and skill with two brilliant runs leading to two more goals for Madrid, the first coming in the 55th minute and the second in the 77th minute.

While RB Salzburg managed to net a consolation goal via Mads Bidstrup in the 85th minute, the outcome highlighted Real Madrid’s need for consistency. After a rocky start to their title defense, currently sitting 16th in the standings with 12 points after five matches, they have registered qualification for the next round but need a win against Brest in their last fixture to secure a more favorable playoff position.

Rodrygo expressed his satisfaction with the morale-boosting win, acknowledging the challenges the team has faced this season. “We need to have a relentless mentality, to score a lot of goals, and win a lot of games,” he remarked. Meanwhile, Salzburg finds itself at the bottom of the group, eliminated with only three points from seven matches.

This result not only boosts Real Madrid’s confidence but also reflects their determination to reclaim their dominant form in European competition as they move forward.
