Razorbacks Soar: Arkansas Crushes UAPB 70-0 in Season Opener!

The Arkansas Razorbacks kicked off their 2024 football season with a dominating performance, defeating Arkansas Pine Bluff (UAPB) 70-0 at War Memorial Stadium. This impressive win improves the Razorbacks’ record to 1-0 for the season.

Arkansas showcased a powerful running game, averaging 8.5 yards per carry, and scoring rushing touchdowns through Ja’Quinden Jackson and Taylen Green. The Razorbacks’ defense was equally formidable, limiting UAPB to just 128 total yards and recording four sacks. The second half was shortened to 10 minutes each after Arkansas surged to a 49-0 halftime lead.

In his first start for the Razorbacks, quarterback Taylen Green completed 16 of 23 passes for 229 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 88 yards.

In the fourth quarter, Tyrell Reed Jr. scored a 4-yard touchdown run, bringing the score to 70-0. Just prior, backup quarterback Malachi Singleton rushed for a 4-yard touchdown, highlighting Arkansas’s offensive dominance.

Earlier, in the third quarter, Braylen Russell, a true freshman, scored his first collegiate touchdown with a 9-yard run, extending the lead to 56-0.

The second quarter featured notable plays from Taylen Green, including a breathtaking 36-yard touchdown run where he evaded a sack and zipped past the defense. He also threw touchdown passes of 23 yards to Ty Washington and 9 yards to Tyrone Broden, ensuring Arkansas scored on every possession in the first half.

The Razorbacks began the first quarter with a 4-yard touchdown run by Rodney Hill, followed by a 46-yard touchdown run from Jackson and another 4-yard run from Green, swiftly building a 21-0 lead.

Looking ahead, Arkansas will next face Oklahoma State on September 7, as they continue to build momentum for the season.
