Razorbacks Roar in Season Opener: A 70-0 Blowout!

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Razorbacks football team kicked off the 2024 season with a dominant performance, defeating Arkansas Pine Bluff (UAPB) 70-0.

The Razorbacks (1-0) showcased an explosive offense, scoring touchdowns on all 10 of their offensive possessions during the game held at War Memorial Stadium. Arkansas demonstrated a strong ground game, averaging 8.5 yards per carry, with Ja’Quinden Jackson and Taylen Green each contributing two rushing touchdowns.

The defense was equally impressive, limiting UAPB to just 128 total yards while recording four sacks. The game was so lopsided that the final two quarters were shortened to 10 minutes each after the Razorbacks established a 49-0 lead by halftime.

Taylen Green marked his first start with Arkansas and offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino by completing 16 of 23 passes for 229 yards and two touchdowns, in addition to rushing for 88 yards, highlighting his dual-threat ability.

Fourth Quarter
– Arkansas scored again with a 4-yard run from Tyrell Reed Jr. with just 36 seconds left, sealing the score at 70-0.
– Backup quarterback Malachi Singleton also found the end zone with a 4-yard run, bringing the tally to nine touchdowns for the Razorbacks.

Third Quarter
– A highlight came when Braylen Russel, making his collegiate debut, scored on a 9-yard run, pushing the score to 56-0.

Second Quarter
– Taylen Green had a spectacular 36-yard touchdown run, evading defenders en route to the end zone.
– Green also threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Ty Washington, extending the lead to 42-0 before halftime.

First Quarter
– The Razorbacks quickly established their dominance, with Rodney Hill scoring on a 4-yard run and Ja’Quinden Jackson adding a 46-yard touchdown, contributing to a 21-0 lead.

The Razorbacks, ranked highly in preseason predictions, were expected to have a strong start against UAPB, and they did not disappoint.

As for game logistics, the matchup took place on Thursday, August 29, at 6:30 p.m. CT, broadcasted nationally on ESPNU with streaming available on ESPN+ and FUBO.
