STILLWATER, Okla. — Arkansas football faced a tough defeat against No. 17 Oklahoma State on Saturday, losing 39-31 in overtime after squandering a 14-point halftime lead. The Razorbacks (1-1) were unable to maintain their momentum, with the offense faltering in the second half and four turnovers contributing to their downfall. Although they managed to tie the game with a field goal as time expired in regulation, they ultimately could not secure the win.
Oklahoma State’s Ollie Gordon II, who had been contained for most of the game, scored the definitive 12-yard touchdown in overtime. Arkansas outperformed Oklahoma State in total yards, gaining 648 to the Cowboys’ 395, but their inability to protect the ball and mistakes in special teams led to their loss.
Despite a strong first half, in which Arkansas scored 24 points, their offense managed only 10 points in the second half. Key turnovers, including a missed field goal and a muffed punt in the fourth quarter, allowed Oklahoma State to capitalize with two crucial touchdowns. Arkansas kicker Kyle Ramsey missed another field goal attempt in overtime, and a personal foul against Xavian Sorey Jr. set up the Cowboys for their winning score.
Ja’Quinden Jackson was a standout for Arkansas, rushing for three touchdowns and accumulating 139 yards on 22 carries. Quarterback Taylen Green also had a solid performance, throwing for 407 yards and adding 61 rushing yards.
