Baltimore is making proactive moves as they focus on the future, particularly with the 2026 season in mind. In light of Nnamdi Madubuike’s injury, the Ravens have secured a contract extension with defensive tackle Travis Jones. Originally set to enter free agency in 2026, the team has ensured that the former UConn standout remains part of their defensive plans with a lucrative new deal.

The third-round pick from the 2022 draft has demonstrated his value by starting in 15 out of 17 regular-season games in 2024. As he enters 2025, Jones aims to establish himself as a key player within the formidable defensive line of the Ravens. General Manager Eric DeCosta expressed enthusiasm regarding Jones’ potential, saying, “‘Big Trav’ is an ascending player and having him continue to man the middle of our defense is very exciting.”

The Ravens’ extension for Jones spans three years and is valued at $40.5 million, with $25 million guaranteed. This deal reflects the organization’s confidence in his abilities and potential to impact the team positively.

With the latest season under his belt, Jones has already recorded impressive statistics, including 27 pressures ranked 26th among NFL defensive tackles, and a solid overall grade of 74.5, placing him 14th in the league. Across 12 games this season, he has also tallied 34 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

Jones showcased remarkable performance last season as well, contributing 42 tackles, including one sack, over 17 games while accumulating 600 defensive snaps. Following Michael Pierce’s retirement, Jones was expected to take on an even greater role this season, and he has met the challenge head-on.

His skills as a run-stopper are evident, with 332 run-defense snaps ranking him 20th in the NFL, and a commendable run defense grade of 76.2, placing sixth among his peers this season.

As the Ravens continue to build their defense and nurture young talent like Travis Jones, the future looks promising for the team as they aim for success in upcoming seasons.
