Raven-Symone recently opened up about her cherished memories of Malcom-Jamal Warner, her late co-star from “The Cosby Show,” during a heartfelt moment at the Teen Vogue Summit on September 20. Warner, who played Theodore Huxtable on the iconic sitcom, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 54 due to asphyxia. His sudden loss has left a significant impact on those who knew him, including Symone, who portrayed his on-screen niece, Olivia.
Amidst tears, Symone reflected on Warner’s sage advice from their time working together. “I haven’t talked about Malcolm yet,” she said, as she recounted a memorable conversation they had about drinking. Warner had encouraged her to keep track of how often she indulged, humorously noting, “There are seven days in a week; if you’re drinking five days, you have a problem.” The advice stuck with her, and she now applies this concept to manage various aspects of her life, from food intake to gaming.
Although she acknowledges that there is more profound wisdom in Warner’s advice, she is still grappling with her grief and is not yet ready to fully delve into it. During the Teen Vogue panel titled “Who Are You When Everyone’s Watching?” Symone and her wife, Miranda Maday, discussed how they navigate their public and private lives while co-hosting their podcast “Tea Time with Raven & Miranda.”
The couple addressed the challenges they face, including online criticism, emphasizing the importance of communication in their relationship. “We both are very vocal in what we need when we need it,” Symone stated, while Maday added, “Our foundation is solid. We respect each other and love each other, so anything else that we’re having to navigate is secondary to that.”
Their commitment to each other serves as a reminder of the strength found in partnership, even in the face of challenges. As they continue to share their journey publicly, the support and respect they have for one another shine through, illustrating that love can thrive amidst adversity.
