Brandon Ingram of the Toronto Raptors is facing potential absence in upcoming games due to a thumb injury sustained during the match against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday. The injury occurred in the second quarter, forcing him to leave the game early. Despite his absence, the Raptors triumphed over the Hornets with a close score of 97-96, thanks to a last-minute three-pointer from Immanuel Quickley.
Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic provided an update on Ingram’s condition, stating that it is currently day-to-day following negative X-ray results. “He just sprained his right thumb. At this point, he’s day-to-day,” Rajakovic confirmed in a video shared by Raptors reporter Omer Osman.
Ingram’s performance before the injury saw him contributing six points, two assists, and three blocks in just 11 minutes. As the Raptors improved their record to 23-15, marking their third consecutive victory, the team may need to adjust their plans if Ingram remains sidelined. He is anticipated to miss the game against the Boston Celtics on Friday, prompting younger players like Sandro Mamukelashvili, Ja’Kobe Walter, and Ochai Agbaji to possibly see increased playing time.
This potential absence raises some concerns among fans, especially considering Ingram’s injury history. Since joining the Raptors in February, he has yet to play a game due to previous setbacks, with only 182 games under his belt across four seasons. Coach Rajakovic has previously emphasized Ingram’s importance to the team’s dynamics, praising his skills as a passer and expressing the desire not to alter the playing style that relies on the one-time All-Star.
As the Raptors navigate this challenging moment, there is hope that Ingram will recover swiftly and continue to be a key player for the team moving forward.
