Rangers' Manager Search Heats Up: Who Will Lead the Charge?

Rangers’ Manager Search Heats Up: Who Will Lead the Charge?

Rangers are actively evaluating multiple candidates for their vacant manager position, with notable names such as Steven Gerrard and Davide Ancelotti emerging as potential frontrunners.

Having previously led Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title in 2021, Gerrard is no stranger to the pressures at Ibrox. His tenure at Aston Villa was brief, and he later managed Al Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League. As interest in his return grows, he remains a favorite within the club’s fanbase.

Davide Ancelotti, the son of renowned manager Carlo Ancelotti, has garnered attention as well after his extensive experience as his father’s assistant across various clubs, including Real Madrid. With Carlo slated to take up a coaching role with the Brazilian national team, this could be the opportune moment for Davide to pursue a head coaching position.

Other candidates under consideration include Russell Martin, who has a connection to Rangers from his playing days, as well as current Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl, former Bournemouth and Wolves manager Gary O’Neil, and former Luton Town manager Rob Edwards. Stuart confirmed that while no decision is expected imminently, the search is progressing well.

With Rangers preparations for the upcoming season underway, including their pre-season training scheduled for June 23 and the Champions League qualifiers set for the end of July, appointing a new manager before these key dates is crucial. The club’s leadership remains committed to assessing all viable options and making the best decision to lead them forward.

Kris Boyd, a former Rangers striker and current pundit, emphasized the importance of selecting someone who can navigate the unique demands of the role, expressing confidence in Gerrard’s ability to succeed in that environment.

As the club weighs the various options, a sense of optimism emerges about the potential future direction Rangers could take under new leadership.
