The Los Angeles Rams are reportedly seeking to trade star wide receiver Cooper Kupp, exploring discussions with multiple teams about a potential deal. According to a report from Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson, Kupp has emerged as a trade target as the deadline approaches.
The Rams are aiming for a second-round pick in exchange for the Pro Bowl wideout and previous Super Bowl MVP. They are also open to assuming part of Kupp’s salary to facilitate a trade. Currently, Kupp is under contract for $9.1 million guaranteed this season, followed by a significant increase to $20 million in 2025 and nearly $19.85 million in 2026.
Kupp has participated in only two games this season, recording 18 receptions for 147 yards and a touchdown before suffering a high ankle sprain on September 15 during a game against the Arizona Cardinals. He was inactive for the Rams’ recent victory over the Las Vegas Raiders after being listed as questionable to play.
Having been drafted by the Rams in the third round of 2017, Kupp has spent his entire NFL career with the team, contributing significantly to their Super Bowl win at the end of the 2021 season and earning the NFL Offensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl MVP accolades. However, injuries have plagued his recent seasons, with Kupp limited to just nine games in 2022 and 12 games in the previous season.
While Kupp has been sidelined, fellow receiver Puka Nakua is also recovering from a PCL sprain. In their absence, players such as Tutu Atwell and Demarcus Robinson have stepped up to fill the gap, likely taking on larger roles if Kupp is indeed traded.
