Ralph Lauren is set to outfit the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic teams for the tenth time at the upcoming Winter Games, showcasing a unique Italian aesthetic for the Opening Ceremony. This ensemble is part of a larger multi-piece collection designed specifically for the athletes.
Evan Bates, a three-time Olympian and reigning ice dancing world champion, expressed his excitement about the experience, stating, “Every time we get the kit, it’s maybe the most exciting part of the Olympic experience, pulling on the Opening Ceremony outfit.”
As the U.S. athletes arrive at San Siro Stadium in Milan for the Opening Ceremony, they will don a stylish winter-white wool coat adorned with Team USA-engraved wooden toggles, a turtleneck sweater emblazoned with the American flag, and wool trousers.
Ralph Lauren’s partnership with Team USA began during the 2008 Beijing Games, where the brand introduced its signature preppy style, drawing inspiration from the 1920s and ’30s. This collaboration not only solidified a strong relationship with the athletes but also led to a significant boost in the brand’s shares following the 2016 Rio Opening Ceremony.
David Lauren, the Chief Branding and Innovation Officer, emphasized the significance of this collaboration: “It’s an incredible opportunity. You get to work with the greatest athletes in the world.” This enduring partnership highlights both Ralph Lauren’s commitment to American sports and the excitement surrounding the Winter Games.
