The pleasant fall weather continues this Wednesday with partly sunny skies and temperatures reaching the mid-50s. However, a low-pressure system is set to move in later this week, bringing a change. On Thursday, especially across New York, expect passing showers throughout the day. The situation will escalate in the evening and overnight when steady rain develops, including some heavy downpours particularly to the south and east.
By Friday morning, rainfall amounts exceeding 1 inch are anticipated in areas from the St. Lawrence Valley westward. Southeastern Vermont and New Hampshire may see even more significant totals of 1 to 2 inches, while regions in between should expect about half an inch. Overall, this weather pattern is expected to provide much-needed rain across the region.
Although Halloween on Friday will see some lingering scattered showers throughout the day, it won’t be a complete washout. Temperatures will remain in the low 50s under mostly cloudy skies. Following the storm, a gusty west wind will develop, particularly noticeable from late Friday into Saturday.
As the weekend approaches, Saturday may start with a few leftover showers, but conditions are expected to dry out on Sunday, although clouds will likely remain. Both days are forecasted to have highs in the mid to upper 40s.
