The Las Vegas Raiders are moving forward in their search for a new head coach, scheduling second interviews with potential candidates. According to Jeremy Fowler from ESPN, the Raiders are set to conduct an in-person interview with Ejiro Evero, the current defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers, next week. This follows a virtual interview that Evero participated in earlier.
Ejiro Evero has been with the Panthers since the 2023 season, joining under former head coach Frank Reich. Despite facing challenges early on, including finishing at the bottom defensively in 2024, Evero significantly improved the team’s defensive performance, leading them to a middle-of-the-pack finish in 2025, ranking No. 16 in yards allowed and No. 15 in points given up.
Evero has a proven track record, having coordinated two top-10 defenses during his career. In 2022, while with the Denver Broncos, he managed a defense that ranked No. 7 in yards allowed, and in 2023, his Panthers unit soared to No. 4.
The upcoming interview between the Raiders and Evero is set to take place in South Florida, indicating the Raiders’ proactive approach in solidifying their coaching staff. In addition to the Raiders, Evero has caught the attention of the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are also considering him for their head coaching vacancy.
This decisive move by the Raiders highlights their commitment to finding a leader capable of revitalizing the team’s performance and making a strong impact in the upcoming season. Evero’s impressive credentials suggest that he could be a valuable asset for any team looking to enhance their defensive strategies.
