The Las Vegas Raiders have expressed to other NFL teams that they are open to trading three-time All-Pro receiver Davante Adams, potentially in exchange for a second-round draft pick along with additional compensation, according to league sources reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Adams was acquired by the Raiders from the Green Bay Packers in a significant deal that involved first- and second-round picks on March 17, 2022. He missed his first game with Las Vegas on Sunday due to a hamstring injury sustained during practice. Despite his injury, Adams was present on the sidelines during the Raiders’ 20-16 victory over the Cleveland Browns, celebrating the first career touchdown of fellow receiver DJ Turner.
In an appearance on the “Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams,” Adams addressed a recent social media incident involving Raiders coach Antonio Pierce. Pierce had liked a post speculating whether Adams had played his final game for the team, although the like was later removed. Adams mentioned that he had not spoken to Pierce recently and added, “Social media is a beast,” indicating that there are many questions swirling around.
When asked about the possibility of having played his last game for the Raiders, Adams emphasized his focus on the present, stating, “All I can control is this talk we’re having right here and after we’re done with this all I can control is the next thing that I’m on to.”
Adams’ representation had previously dismissed offseason rumors linking him to former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, now with the New York Jets, labeling such speculation as “baseless” and “unfounded.” The Raiders’ management, along with Pierce and Adams, did not respond to inquiries on Tuesday, although a media session is planned for Wednesday.
Adams is set to earn $17.5 million this season, with $13.5 million remaining on his contract. Although he is under contract through 2026, his salary is scheduled to increase significantly in the following years. This hefty price tag means that any team looking to trade for Adams would likely need him to agree to a restructured contract.
The 31-year-old receiver has previously stirred controversy with his comments during the Netflix series “Receiver” and expressed frustration during a game against the New England Patriots where he felt overworked and beaten. Adams had also missed the last two weeks of training camp due to the birth of his son and has dealt with injuries since.
This season, Adams has recorded 18 catches for 209 yards and one touchdown in three games, continuing his strong performance with 221 receptions for 2,869 yards and 23 touchdowns over 37 games with the Raiders.
