The Radisson Blu Resort in Fiji has announced the appointment of Peni ‘Ben’ Sonewa as its new sales manager for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events (MICE). Sonewa comes with a solid background in the hospitality and events sector, having accumulated extensive experience with several prominent resorts in Fiji over the years.

His career began at Rosie Holidays, followed by roles within the Marriott Group, where he served in various sales executive positions at the Sheraton Fiji and Marriott Momi Bay Resorts, focusing primarily on weddings and events. Moreover, Sonewa has held significant positions such as the Cluster Groups Conference & Event Sales Executive for Hilton Fiji and the Weddings & Events Sales Manager for Crowne Plaza Fiji. This diverse experience has equipped him with profound insights into the MICE market.

In his new role at the Radisson Blu Resort Fiji, Sonewa will lead the resort’s strategic efforts to expand its presence in local, regional, and international MICE markets. His duties will include managing essential corporate accounts and nurturing partnerships that align with the resort’s growth initiatives.

Set on Denarau Island, the Radisson Blu Resort is celebrated as a premier venue for small to medium-sized groups and events, boasting conference facilities that accommodate up to 120 guests. This appointment comes amidst a rejuvenated optimism in Fiji’s tourism sector, which is seeing a substantial recovery and renewed interest from travelers in the post-COVID landscape.

Recent reports highlight significant investments in renovations across multiple resorts, including the Radisson Blu, aimed at enhancing guest experiences. These improvements, coupled with new leadership in sales, signify a hopeful perspective for Fiji’s hospitality industry as it seeks to attract increased international business and leisure visitors.

With Sonewa at the helm, the Radisson Blu Resort is strategically poised to meet the rising demand for high-quality MICE facilities, which will not only benefit the local economy but also reaffirm Fiji’s status as an attractive destination for corporate and incentive travel. The future looks bright for both the resort and Fiji’s tourism industry as they adapt and thrive in this new era.
