The Radisson Blu Resort in Fiji has appointed Peni ‘Ben’ Sonewa as its new sales manager for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events (MICE). With a robust background in the hospitality and events sector, Sonewa brings extensive experience accumulated over years with several prominent Fiji resort brands.
Sonewa’s career began at Rosie Holidays before he transitioned to the Marriott Group, where he held various sales executive positions at both the Sheraton Fiji and Marriott Momi Bay Resorts, focusing on weddings and events. His impressive resume also includes roles as the Cluster Groups Conference & Event sales executive for Hilton Fiji and as Weddings & Events sales manager for Crowne Plaza Fiji. Through these positions, he has developed a deep understanding of the MICE market.
In his new role at the Radisson Blu Resort Fiji, Sonewa is tasked with spearheading the resort’s strategic initiatives to broaden its reach in local, regional, and international MICE markets. His responsibilities will encompass managing key corporate accounts while fostering partnerships that align with the resort’s growth objectives.
Located on Denarau Island, the Radisson Blu Resort is positioned as a prime destination for small to medium-sized groups and events, with conference facilities that can accommodate up to 120 guests. This appointment aligns with the wider optimism in Fiji’s tourism sector, which is witnessing a recovery and renewed interest from travelers in the post-COVID era.
Recent reports indicate significant investments in renovations at various resorts, including the Radisson Blu, which is undergoing enhancements to improve guest experiences. These upgrades, along with the addition of new sales leadership, reflect a hopeful outlook for the future of Fiji’s hospitality industry as it aims to attract more international business and leisure visitors.
With Sonewa’s expertise, the Radisson Blu Resort is well-positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for quality MICE facilities, contributing positively to the local economy and reinforcing Fiji’s status as a desirable destination for corporate and incentive travel.
