WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Hendrick Motorsports hit the track for the first time in 2025 during an exhibition event on Saturday evening. This occasion differed from regular race weekends, featuring unique practice and qualifying procedures tailored for the competitive atmosphere.
The event began with the field divided into three groups, each group having three practice sessions. Notably, the third session doubled as the qualifying round, determining the lineup for the heat races.
The qualifying results showcased a mix of seasoned veterans and rising stars, with Chase Elliott in the No. 9 NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet and Chris Buescher in the No. 17 leading the pack. Other notable drivers included Denny Hamlin, Tyler Reddick, and Brad Keselowski, along with several others competing for top positions.
As part of the competition setup, four heat races will take place, with the top five finishers in each race qualifying for the main 200-lap feature scheduled for Sunday afternoon. Remaining participants will have a chance to compete in the Last Chance Qualifier, with the top two from that race securing a spot in the main event. To ensure a competitive field, a 23rd driver—selected based on the previous year’s owner points standings—will receive a provisional entry starting at the back of the field.
This race format not only adds excitement but emphasizes the strategic approach drivers and teams must take to navigate the path to victory. Fans can look forward to an exhilarating contest as the competitors vie for a strong positioning in the main event.
