Racecourse Showdown: Can Wrexham Extend Their Unbeaten Run Against Blackburn?

Phil Parkinson’s Wrexham side is gearing up for an exciting clash against Blackburn Rovers at The Racecourse following an impressive 2-0 victory over Bristol City on Wednesday. This triumph marks the team’s fourth consecutive win at their home ground and has extended their unbeaten run to seven games, placing them in 10th position in the league, just two points shy of the coveted play-off spots.

Midfielder Thomason emphasized the importance of maintaining consistency in such a competitive league. “Everyone knows this division is so topsy-turvy and top to bottom, it’s really tight, so you’ve got to keep consistent and humble,” he stated. He added, “At the moment, we’re on a good run of form and we want to continue that.” Acknowledging the challenge ahead, Thomason expressed confidence in the team’s preparation. “We don’t take anyone lightly. We know Blackburn’s going to be a tough test and we’re looking really forward to it.”

Wrexham has showcased solid defensive capabilities by securing four successive clean sheets, underlining Thomason’s point about the significance of making The Racecourse a fortress. “It’s important to build some form of consistency at home, especially as going away from home in this division is really hard,” he noted. He highlighted the dual necessity of collecting points away from home and solidifying their home ground advantage. “To win four on the bounce and keep on picking up these clean sheets is really important.”

In the match against Bristol City, Wrexham took the lead with a spectacular goal from Nathan Broadhead. The victory was sealed with 16 minutes remaining when Thomason’s in-swinging corner hit the post and ultimately deflected in off goalkeeper Radek Vitek. While it seems Thomason was denied a first goal since his transfer from Bolton Wanderers, his focus remained on the team’s success. “Regardless if the goal was mine or not, I’m not really too fussed to be honest. The main thing was getting that second goal in the second half and coming out with a win, so I’m over the moon.”

With the momentum from their recent performances and a strong mindset heading into the game against Blackburn, Wrexham looks to continue their ascent in the league.
