Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has announced a significant reshuffle within the Cabinet ahead of the Coalition Government’s third anniversary, with the changes set to take effect on January 19, 2026. This strategic repositioning aims to enhance governance and better prepare for the government’s upcoming fourth year in office.
Key appointments have been made to invigorate the leadership team. Sakiasi Ditoka will assume the position of Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, bringing in new viewpoints for the nation’s international relations. Mosese Bulitavu has been designated Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, indicating the administration’s renewed focus on rural issues and disaster preparedness. Lynda Tabuya has been appointed as Minister for Information, Environment and Climate Change, underlining the government’s pledge towards environmental stewardship and transparency in communication.
Other notable appointments include Charan Jeath Singh, who will oversee the Ministry of Public Enterprises, Multi-Ethnic Affairs, Culture, Heritage, and Arts. Ifereimi Vasu is set to manage iTaukei Affairs, centering on cultural and heritage initiatives, while Tomasi Tunabuna takes over as Minister for Agriculture and the Sugar Industry, a vital pillar of the nation’s economy.
Prime Minister Rabuka will retain oversight of Civil Service and Strategic Planning, along with National Development and Statistics. Additionally, the reshuffle includes a structural adjustment with the housing and office accommodation unit moving under the Ministry of Public Works, while the Ministry of Civil Service will continue to provide policy direction on housing issues.
Sachida Nand has also been reassigned as Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Commerce and Business Development.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Rabuka emphasized that these changes are not only timely but essential for the government’s ongoing commitment to delivering on its promises to the Fijian people.
