Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has addressed the ongoing concerns about ethnic exclusion in business, reassuring all communities in Fiji that they are free to engage in commerce under the Coalition Government. During the inauguration of the $6 million George Shiu Raj Complex in Rakiraki, Rabuka dismissed fears of a resurgence of iTaukei nationalism, affirming that no community should feel threatened.
He emphasized that Fiji is a home for all and committed to looking after the interests of every ethnic group, stating, “I want to assure all ethnic groups in Fiji that we will look after your interests. You do not have anything to worry about.” This message reflects the government’s focus on inclusivity and collaboration as vital for national unity and economic advancement.
In his speech, Rabuka highlighted the accomplishments of Ra businessman George Shiu Raj, using his success as an example of the positive outcomes that can emerge from trust and partnership in business. The newly inaugurated complex is anticipated to boost economic activity by creating jobs and promoting regional development, thereby enhancing local livelihoods.
