In a violent encounter on Queen Anne Hill early Sunday morning, a car owner defended himself against armed thugs attempting to steal his sports car. The incident unfolded around 3:30 a.m. when the victim, a licensed gun owner, parked his vehicle on 1st Ave. N., close to the Queen Anne Safeway. A group of four masked suspects in a white sedan approached him, with two of the suspects reportedly armed.
Feeling threatened, the victim opened fire in an attempt to protect himself. When law enforcement arrived, they found one suspect had been shot multiple times. The other three suspects managed to flee the scene. However, police later discovered that one of the injured suspects had been taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
The Seattle Fire Department responded quickly to the scene, where medics treated the first injured suspect’s gunshot wounds before ambulancing him to the hospital, where he was in serious condition and under armed guard from police. The second injured suspect, who also suffered from gunshot wounds, was reported to be receiving treatment at the same facility, also in serious condition.
Witnesses reported that prior to the shooting, the suspects had a brief interaction with the victim. After the gunfire, three suspects escaped in their vehicle, leaving before authorities arrived. Meanwhile, police have been diligently collecting evidence at the crime scene and interviewing potential witnesses.
As the investigation is ongoing, the Seattle Police Department’s Robbery Unit has taken the lead in the case. They are currently searching for the two uninjured suspects who remain at large while the victim has been questioned and is expected to be released soon.
