Staff at CJ Patel’s head office in Lami were recently treated to an energetic performance by the Que Qiri Kava team from Qauia, invigorating the workplace with a vibrant display of cultural expression. The event featured over 30 members of the Qiri Kava group, emphasizing themes of unity, youth engagement, and the importance of preserving cultural traditions.

This occasion was celebrated by the Qauia community as a crucial opportunity, particularly for its young members. Taufa St John, a representative from Qauia’s District Advisory Council, remarked on the significance of the initiative in creating new pathways for youth while strengthening community partnerships.

St John noted that such initiatives play a vital role in addressing social issues, including increasing crime rates. By facilitating programs like Qiri Kava, sports events, and community clean-up campaigns, the effort aims to unite local youth, fostering stronger interpersonal relationships and promoting positive community engagement. “We had a red zone, which highlighted the issues we faced, and programs like these allow us to know our youths and each other better,” she shared.

Expressing gratitude for the support received, St John recognized the profound impact these programs have on local families and the broader community.

Monisha Prasad, Marketing Manager of CJ Patel Group, expressed pride in hosting the Qiri Kava team, describing the event as a major celebration of Fiji’s vibrant cultural heritage. She highlighted the importance of community connections and cultural preservation, pointing out that CJ Patel’s local brands, like Bongo and Rewa, are deeply intertwined with the people of Fiji, reinforcing a strong sense of belonging.

The celebration not only showcased traditional arts but also demonstrated a hopeful commitment to nurturing future generations, illustrating the positive strides being made within the community to cultivate a bright future. This event reflects a united effort toward promoting cultural richness and youth engagement, which is essential for community development and resilience.
