Staff at CJ Patel’s head office in Lami were treated to a vibrant performance by the Que Qiri Kava team from Qauia, who infused the workplace with energy and rich cultural expression. Over 30 members of the Qiri Kava group showcased their talents, with a focus on celebrating unity, youth engagement, and the preservation of cultural traditions.

This visit was hailed as a pivotal moment for the Qauia community, offering a platform particularly beneficial for its youth. Taufa St John, representative of Qauia’s District Advisory Council, emphasized that the invitation fostered new opportunities for young individuals while reinforcing community partnerships.

St John noted that the initiative plays a crucial role in tackling social challenges, including rising crime rates. Through engaging programs such as Qiri Kava, sports events, and community clean-up campaigns, the initiative seeks to bring local youth together, building stronger interpersonal connections and promoting positive engagement. “We had a red zone, which highlighted the issues we faced, and programs like these allow us to know our youths and each other better,” she remarked.

Additionally, St John expressed her gratitude for the support provided, recognizing the profound impact these initiatives have on local families and the community as a whole.

CJ Patel Group Marketing Manager, Monisha Prasad, reflected on the company’s pride in hosting the Qiri Kava team. She highlighted the event as a significant celebration of Fiji’s rich cultural heritage, reinforcing the importance of community connections and cultural preservation. Prasad pointed out that CJ Patel’s local brands, including Bongo and Rewa, hold deep ties to the people of Fiji, further strengthening this communal bond.

The celebration not only highlighted traditional arts but also represented a hopeful commitment to nurturing the upcoming generation, showcasing the positive steps being taken within the community to create a promising future.
